COVID-19 - Somme - July
Due to the emergency travel restrictions, we have been prevented from taking our usual July trip to the Somme.
Every June/July for more than a decade we have taken a ‘Brimington Remembers’ wreath to France to place at
Thiepval Memorial in remembrance of all our village men who fought and for those who died in the battle - all have no known grave.
So obviously we are so sorry that we cannot keep up the tradition this year. But luckily, 2 friends who live on the
Somme, - Vic and Diane Piuk - and who run an excellent b&b in the heart of the Somme and are both experienced battlefield guides - volunteered to help us.
So, in advance we mailed one of our special Brimington wreaths to them, and they will lay the wreath at Thiepval on our behalf on 1st July.

Diane & Vic Piuk did us proud !
As promised, they attended the service at Thiepval and laid our Brimington Remembers wreath at the memorial on our behalf.
Due to the circumstances the number of attendees were limited at the service.
But it means that the long annual tradition of our wreath being laid at Thiepval on the 1st of July remains unbroken.
We owe you both a great debt. Many thanks ......
