Armistice Day &

Remembrance Sunday

November 2017

Following our extended visit to Ypres for the Passchendaele  Commemorations during the summer, we decided to stay at home for  Armistice Day and to attend the Remembrance Sunday service in the village.

We had already laid  our customary wreaths in Belgium and France during the summer visit at the memorials & cemeteries for our fallen village soldiers.

And as usual we ensured our soldiers buried in Brimington Cemetery were not forgotten , and placed new remembrance crosses on each of their graves.

Our tribute at home

Remembrance Sunday 12th November 2017.

We attended the very poignant and moving 'Service of Remembrance'  in St Michael and All Angels church in the village  -which was very well attended by all the local community groups.

It was followed by the parade to the Brimington memorial gates to continue the act of worship before the laying of the wreaths on the gates.

After blessings and prayers, the  last post was sounded, followed by a minute silence before the reveille was sounded.

After the singing of our national anthem the  parade was dismissed and  light refreshments were served in the church hall.
